For your study to deliver its promises, alignment of these three elements is essential. It applies whatever your topic, your research approach, and your methodology.
While the problem statement focuses on the research problem and knowledge gap, the purpose statement informs the reader on how you will address the research problem and fill the knowledge gap. Then the research questions enter the scene and state clearly what question(s) the research will answer to fulfil the purpose of the research.
